Guwahati, May 16: Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan visited the Hatikhuli Tea Estate in Bokakhat, Golaghat district of Assam, where he interacted with tea garden workers and acknowledged their dedication, hard work, and contribution to the tea industry.
During his visit, Chouhan spoke with women workers and briefly joined them in their tasks to better understand their daily challenges. Sharing his experience on social media, the minister wrote, “Working in tea gardens is really very hard work. I talked to our sisters working here and tried to understand their efforts. Their dedication and commitment result in each tea leaf whose aroma spreads across the country and the world.”
Chouhan assured that the Central Government is committed to supporting the welfare and economic upliftment of tea garden workers. “Every possible effort will be made for the smile, stability in life, and economic empowerment of these sisters,” he stated, adding that respecting labour is essential for driving development.
The visit was part of the Union Minister’s Northeast tour, which commenced in Guwahati on May 15.
