Itanagar, May 15: Arunachal Pradesh Sub-Inspector Tamo Bakhang, once hailed as a state hero for his bravery during the 2025 Hollongi gunfight against notorious drug kingpin Rohit Basumatory, is now battling a serious eye injury sustained amid bandh-related unrest in Itanagar on Friday.

According to reports, SI Bakhang was en route to the protest site near 6 Kilo when miscreants allegedly attacked his vehicle by pelting stones. The shattered glass caused severe injuries to his eyes. He was immediately rushed to Niba Hospital and later referred to TRIHMS, where doctors warned that sharp glass cuts on his eyeballs could result in permanent loss of vision or partial impairment.

Medical authorities have since referred him to Delhi for advanced treatment.
