Karma Tashi Bhutia assumed charge as the Chairman of the Sikkim Housing and Development Board (SH&DB) at the Board’s office in Awas Bhawan, Church Road, Gangtok on July 11, 2025. His appointment was made through Office Order No. 54/home/2025, dated July 5, 2025, issued by the Home Department, Government of Sikkim.
Bhutia, who brings five years of experience in the housing sector, has earlier served as Chairman of SH&DB. His previous tenure was marked by significant growth and expansion of the Board’s activities.
Welcoming his return, SH&DB Secretary Rajesh Pradhan said, “We are excited to welcome Karma Tashi Bhutia as the Chairman. His exclusive experience and visionary leadership will be instrumental as SH&DB continues to navigate industry challenges and pursue new growth opportunities.”
In his statement, Bhutia expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister of Sikkim for the continued trust in his leadership. “I am honoured to join SH&DB as the Chairman for the second consecutive term. I extend my sincere gratitude to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim for the continued trust and confidence,” he said.
He reiterated his commitment to improving housing infrastructure across the state and ensuring access to secure, affordable, and well-planned residential spaces for the people of Sikkim.
