Shillong, April 30: The body of a 15-year-old girl from Uttar Pradesh who fell into a waterfall in Meghalaya’s Sohra area while attempting to take photographs was recovered on Thursday morning, officials confirmed.

The teenager had gone missing on Wednesday after she reportedly slipped and fell into one of the deep natural pools at Wei Sawdong Falls, a popular tourist destination known for its striking scenery. Search operations were carried out throughout the day but were suspended after sunset without success.

Rescue teams resumed efforts on Thursday morning, leading to the recovery of the girl’s body. Authorities said the incident highlights the risks posed by the rugged terrain and slippery surfaces at the site, which attract large numbers of visitors each year.
