Security forces in Manipur recovered a substantial cache of weapons and equipment from Dampi Ridge under the jurisdiction of Churachandpur police station on August 12. The seizure included three single-barrel rifles, five long-range mortars (pompi), seven improvised explosive devices (IEDs), two bulletproof vests, two Baofeng Motorola radios with a charger, and two helmets.
On the same day, Manipur Police arrested an active cadre of the proscribed PREPAK (PRO) outfit, identified as Elangbam Bijeshwori Devi (22) of Heirangoithong Maibam Leikai Bokul Makhong, Imphal West district, from Hiyanglam Awang Leikai in Kakching district. A mobile phone was seized from her possession.
Meanwhile, in a sustained drive to enforce traffic regulations, police issued 16 challans on August 12, imposing fines amounting to ₹21,000. The previous day, five vehicles were detained for violations, and tinted films were removed from 22 vehicles. On August 11, 21 challans were issued, collecting ₹39,000 in fines, while tinted films were removed from 26 vehicles on August 10.
These coordinated operations highlight the state’s commitment to maintaining law and order, curbing insurgent activities, and enhancing road safety through strict enforcement measures.
