Security forces in Manipur arrested several active cadres of banned militant outfits KYKL, KCP (MFL), RPF/PLA, and PREPAK in a series of operations between August 19 and 20, disrupting an extensive network of extortion and criminal activities in the valley and Thoubal regions.

On August 19, two active members of the proscribed KYKL group were apprehended. The arrested have been identified as Jiten Sana RK alias Nanao (41) of Pangei Lairam Mapal, Imphal East, who was picked up near Minuthong under Imphal Police Station, and Jimson Aheibam (30) of Awangkhunou Sabal Leikai, Imphal West, who was arrested from his residence under Patsoi Police Station. Both were allegedly involved in extorting money from spas, shops, and the general public in the valley.

On the same day, security forces also arrested an active cadre of KCP (MFL), identified as Khoinaijam Robertson Singh alias Khelemba (24) of Sawombung Thongkhong, Imphal East. He was nabbed from Taothong Khunou near Khudeiband Lampak under Lamsang Police Station. Robertson was reportedly engaged in extortion, abduction for ransom, and intimidation in disputes, including cases related to crimes against women and loan recoveries.
The next day, August 20, security forces launched a successful operation in Thoubal district, arresting three active cadres of RPF/PLA from Kshetri Leikai under Thoubal Police Station. They were identified as Angom Premjit Singh alias Manaothoi (33) of Phayeng Ching Khunou, Imphal West; Ningthoujam Urirei Devi (28) of Moreh Ward No. 7, presently residing at Langol Laimanai, Imphal West; and Lourembam Madona Devi alias Moli (26) of Uripok, Imphal West.

The trio was accused of extorting money from government schools, colleges, brick kiln owners, and stone crusher operators in Thoubal. Security forces recovered a Maruti Suzuki Swift VXI car, three mobile phones, an Aadhaar card, a PAN card, an ATM card, a notebook listing targeted schools in Thoubal Block, and ₹4,000 in cash from their possession.
