Agartala, September 02, 2025: Barely twelve hours after Tipra Motha legislator Philip Kumar Reang lodged a complaint alleging a security breach at the MLA Hostel in Agartala, Tripura’s Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag on Tuesday confirmed that the individuals involved in the incident had been identified.

Reang, in his complaint, stated that around 10 pm on Monday night, while he was engaged in a discussion with his family outside his allotted government quarter near ILS Hospital, three persons approached him, restrained him, and issued death threats. He alleged that the miscreants warned of mobilising 400–500 BJP workers to attack him and his family members.

The MLA termed the episode a “serious criminal conspiracy” and rushed to the residence of MLA Biswajit Kalai for shelter following the incident.

On Tuesday morning, DGP Anurag, IG (Law and Order) Manchak Ipper, and Additional SP (Urban) Dhruv Nath visited the MLA Hostel to assess the situation.

Speaking to the press, DGP Anurag said, “An argument broke out between MLA Philip Kumar Reang and some youths last night. We have identified the three individuals—they had come here as guests of someone. Security personnel are deployed, and the investigation is ongoing. We are also reviewing security arrangements to ensure strict monitoring and enhanced protection.”

He further emphasized that only registered guests are permitted entry into the hostel premises, and that security protocols are being reinforced to prevent such lapses.
