Guwahati, Jan 16: Veteran actor Bishnu Kharghoria will receive the ‘Lifetime Achievement Honour’ at the Guwahati Asian Film Festival (GAFF) 2026 for his significant contributions to Indian cinema, particularly Assamese films, festival organisers announced on Thursday.
Kharghoria, known for his acclaimed roles in Xagoroloi Bohudoor, Firingoti, and Kollol, has been recognised for performances marked by emotional depth and artistic integrity.
Festival director Monita Borgohain said, “Kharghoria’s contribution to Indian cinema, especially Assamese films, is profound and timeless. His performances reflect rare integrity, emotional depth and an unwavering commitment to the craft. We are honoured to celebrate a life dedicated to cinema.”
The Lifetime Achievement Honour, instituted as an annual award, recognises artistes whose body of work has significantly influenced cinematic culture and inspired generations.
