Agartala, February 12, 2026: In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking, Assam Rifles in coordination with the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) carried out a successful joint operation in Cachar district, resulting in the seizure of heroin valued at ₹3.2 crore.
The operation was launched based on credible intelligence inputs regarding the movement of drugs in the district. Acting swiftly, the joint team intercepted a vehicle along National Highway 306 late on the evening of February 11, 2026. Upon thorough checking, heroin consignments were recovered, and two individuals involved in the transportation were apprehended on the spot.

A Bolero vehicle used for ferrying the contraband, along with a mobile phone found in the possession of the accused, was also seized. The apprehended individuals have been handed over to the concerned authorities for further investigation and legal action. Efforts are underway to uncover the larger network behind the trafficking attempt.
Assam Rifles and DRI continue to intensify their coordinated efforts to curb the menace of drug trafficking in the region. The latest seizure underscores their sustained commitment to dismantling narcotics networks and ensuring peace and security in the area.
