PM Modi Inaugurates ₹25,450 Crore Projects In Assam, Flags Off 50 Electric Buses For Bhavnagar

Guwahati, Feb 14: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated development projects worth over ₹25,450 crore in Assam and remotely dedicated 50 electric buses for Bhavnagar, Gujarat, under the PM-eBus Sewa Scheme.

PM Modi highlighted the scheme’s role in promoting clean, sustainable, and reliable urban transport across India. In its initial phase, buses have been allocated to cities including Nagpur, Chandigarh, and Guwahati.

Bhavnagar becomes the first city in Gujarat to receive 50 e-buses, with plans to expand to 100. These air-conditioned buses feature CCTV cameras for security and accessibility facilities for Divyangs.

The Gujarat Urban Development Mission, under the Urban Development and Urban Housing Department, is overseeing the implementation. Plans are in place to deploy 750 e-buses across eight cities in Gujarat, including 250 in Vadodara, 100 each in Rajkot, Bhavnagar, and Gandhinagar, 80 in Gandhidham, 50 each in Jamnagar and Junagadh, and 20 in Navsari.

Gujarat is emerging as a leader in electric mobility infrastructure and technology, supporting national efforts for eco-friendly urban transport.
