NEC Members Review Progress of Key Development Projects in Tripura

Agartala, March 03, 2026: Longki Phangcho and Tenzing Norbu Thongdok, members of the North Eastern Council (NEC) under the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER), Government of India, conducted extensive field inspections of ongoing and completed NEC-funded projects across Tripura.

During the visit, the NEC members undertook a comprehensive review of the quality and standards of execution of various projects implemented under NEC schemes. They held detailed interactions with concerned departmental officials and local stakeholders to assess the pace of progress, inter-departmental coordination, adherence to timelines, and optimal utilization of allocated funds.

Tenzing Norbu Thongdok separately inspected projects related to the Education, Tourism, and Agriculture sectors being implemented under NEC initiatives in the state. The inspection focused on evaluating infrastructure development, service delivery outcomes, and the broader socio-economic impact of the projects on local communities.

Chandan Jena, Senior Technical Assistant, NEC, accompanied the member during the inspection visits, along with officials from the Government of Tripura. The team examined project sites on the ground and reviewed documentation to ensure compliance with approved guidelines and technical specifications.

The visit highlights the NEC’s sustained emphasis on robust monitoring mechanisms and timely implementation of development initiatives in the North Eastern Region. By undertaking periodic field inspections, the Council aims to strengthen accountability, enhance execution efficiency, and ensure that projects deliver tangible benefits to the people of Tripura.
