Agartala, March 16, 2026: On the eve of the TTAADC elections, fresh political tension has surfaced within Tripura’s ruling coalition, exposing growing cracks among its alliance partners. Although the state government is being run jointly by Bharatiya Janata Party, Tipra Motha and Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura, the three parties are now openly confronting one another on the ground ahead of the crucial tribal council elections.

Political observers say the evolving situation has become increasingly difficult for the public to understand, as coalition partners are simultaneously sharing power and engaging in aggressive electoral rivalry. The latest concern emerged from Jampuijala, where reports of violent clashes between party workers have once again come to the fore.

According to allegations, a bomb was hurled and nine rounds of gunfire were fired at a Tipra Motha party office in Jampuijala on Saturday night shortly after a party meeting concluded. Two Tipra Motha workers sustained injuries in the attack. Central paramilitary forces were later deployed in the area to restore order and prevent further escalation.

One of the injured, Amit Debbarma, was first taken to a local hospital before being referred to Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital for advanced treatment. He reportedly suffered serious injuries to his leg. Amit Debbarma alleged that six to seven BJP workers entered the party office and carried out the attack.

Security forces also maintained vigil throughout the night outside the residence of the local Mandal president in the area. The latest violence has intensified concern in political circles, especially as it comes only days after another clash in the same region.

Meanwhile, a separate political development has added further intrigue to the unfolding situation. Tripura Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma left for New Delhi suddenly, even as the second day of the state Assembly Budget Session was underway on Monday. His abrupt departure has triggered speculation within political circles.

Adding to the speculation, the minister reportedly removed a photograph of Pradyot Kishore Debbarma from his personal social media profile. The move has prompted fresh questions about internal developments within the party and the coalition, with political observers closely watching whether these events signal deeper realignments ahead of the ADC elections.
