Manipur Police Arrest Three In Separate Drug Hauls, Seize Heroin, Opium And SP Tablets

Manipur Police arrested three individuals in separate anti-drug operations carried out across Imphal West, Bishnupur and surrounding areas on March 17 and 18, recovering a significant quantity of contraband substances.

On March 17, police arrested Laishram Kunjomani Singh (52) of Iram Siphai Mayai Leikai, presently residing at Sagolband Amudon Akham Leikai in Imphal West district, from Bora Gali at Thangal Bazar under City Police Station, Imphal West. A total of 56,216 capsules of SP tablets along with a mobile phone were seized from his possession.

In another operation on the same day, Md Altaf Hussain (21) of Keirao Makting Awang Leikai under Irilbung Police Station, Imphal East district, was arrested near Kwakta Sericulture Training Institute along National Highway-02 under Phougakchao Police Station, Bishnupur district. Police recovered approximately 271 grams of heroin (No. 4), one Alto car and a keypad mobile phone from him.

On March 18, Anil Guatam (34) of Toribari Village under Kangpokpi Police Station, Senapati district, was apprehended at the Phougakchao Ikhai NAKA check point in Bishnupur district. Seizures from his possession included around 1.5 kilograms of opium, a three-wheeler auto-rickshaw, a carry backpack, a mobile phone and an Aadhaar card.

Further investigation into the cases is underway.
