Tajang village in Arunachal Pradesh’s Lower Subansiri district observed a solemn remembrance on Wednesday as floral tributes were offered to Indian Air Force Corporal Tage Hailyang on his first death anniversary. Corporal Hailyang was among the 26 people killed in the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 last year.

Marking the occasion, his father, Tage Tade, unveiled a life-sized statue of the fallen soldier at the Rake memorial site. The statue, adorned with traditional white scarves and marigolds, stands beside three black granite plaques that narrate his journey from Tajang village to his service in the Indian Air Force.

A two-minute silence was observed in honour of Hailyang, remembered for his humility and kindness. Ziro-Hapoli MLA Hage Appa also joined the gathering to pay tribute. In an emotional address, Tade expressed pride in his son’s sacrifice, noting that while his son could not return, his story continues to inspire the youth of the region.
