All Five Assam Ministers Sworn In Are Crorepatis, One Has Criminal Case: Syas ADR Report

Guwahati, May 13: All five ministers sworn in as part of Assam’s new Cabinet are crorepatis, while one has declared a criminal case, according to a report released by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) on Wednesday.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who took oath for a second consecutive term on Tuesday, was joined by BJP leaders Rameswar Teli and Ajanta Neog, AGP’s Atul Bora, and Charan Boro of the BPF. ADR noted that Bora has declared a criminal case against himself in his affidavit, relating to “criminal breach of trust by public servant, or by banker, merchant or agent” under IPC Section 409.

The report highlighted that Sarma has the highest declared assets, worth over ₹35 crore, alongside liabilities exceeding ₹16 crore. The average assets of the five ministers stand at ₹10.99 crore.

In terms of educational qualifications, one minister declared completion of class 10, while the remaining four reported graduate-level or higher qualifications. Ajanta Neog is the only woman minister in the Cabinet.
