Manipur: CDO Personnel Killed In Knife Attack During Anti-Drug Operation In Thoubal

A personnel of the Commando Unit, Thoubal, was killed after being attacked with a knife during an anti-drug operation at Moijing Khongkok on Wednesday night.

According to official sources, the incident occurred at around 8:20 pm on June 3 when a CDO Thoubal team launched a verification operation based on credible information regarding an illicit drug transaction in the area.

During the operation, two suspects identified as Md. Naobi alias Mahil (25) of Moijing Leingoijin and Salman Khan (30) of Moijing Maibam Leikai were detained for questioning.

However, during interrogation, Md. Naobi alias Mahil allegedly attacked Havildar Kh. Suresh Singh of the 4th IRB, who was attached to CDO Thoubal, with a knife, inflicting grievous injuries.

The two accused persons then fled the spot, abandoning their Alto car.

The injured personnel was immediately rushed to District Hospital, Thoubal, where he was declared brought dead at around 9:15 pm.

Security forces have launched massive search operations to apprehend the absconding accused persons. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
