Guwahati, June 11: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday attended the 11th Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Speaking at the session, Sarma quoted the Prime Minister’s emphasis on improved coordination among states and urged leveraging India’s demographic dividend by creating expanded opportunities for youth. He said the Prime Minister reiterated the need to place women at the core of governance initiatives and to capitalise on recent progress in international trade agreements.
“Today, India stands at a pivotal moment in history,” Sarma said, noting that the country’s growth remains among the fastest in the world and continues to draw investments and talent globally. He added that the collective efforts of “Team India” will be directed toward building a Viksit Bharat.
The Governing Council meeting, which brings together chief ministers and central government officials, reviewed policy priorities and strategies to accelerate inclusive development across states.
