Tripura: Agartala Press Club Extends ₹50,000 Aid to Ailing Journalist Manish Debbarma for Surgery

Agartala, June 17, 2026: Tribal journalist Manish Debbarma, who has been suffering from a rare disease and requires major hand surgery, received financial assistance of ₹50,000 on Tuesday to support his treatment. The aid was handed over by Indian Journalists Union Secretary and Tripura’s Agartala Press Club President Pranab Sarkar.

During the handover programme, Sarkar was accompanied by Surajit Pal, General Secretary of the Tripura Electronics Media Society; Ranjit Debbarma, Secretary of the Khumulwng Press Club; and Samaresh Dey, Secretary of the Tripura Journalists Union.

Several members of society contributed towards the financial support for Debbarma’s treatment. Expressing gratitude, Sarkar thanked all those who came forward to help the journalist during his difficult time.

It may be mentioned that Debbarma had also received financial assistance earlier to meet medical expenses related to his condition. The latest support aims to help him proceed with the required surgery and continue his treatment.
