Agartala, December 9, 2024: In a series of coordinated operations, the Border Security Force (BSF) apprehended one Nigerian national, one Indian national, and three Bangladeshi nationals along the Indo-Bangladesh border in Tripura. The operations were conducted to curb infiltration, exfiltration, and trans-border crimes.
Acting on specific intelligence, BSF personnel conducted a special ambush at Kaiyedhepa in Sepahijala district. During the operation, they apprehended a Nigerian national, Maxwel Nweke (34), who was found moving suspiciously along the border road while attempting to exfiltrate into Bangladesh.
Based on information provided by Nweke, BSF troops detained Suraj Prasad, an Indian national from Amtoli in West Tripura district. Prasad, who was fleeing the scene on a motorcycle, is a known tout under BSF surveillance.
In another operation, BSF troops intercepted a 15-year-old Bangladeshi girl attempting to cross the border fence into India near Mangroli in North Tripura district. The girl is reportedly a resident of Chandpur village under Kulaura Police Station in Bangladesh’s Moulvibazar district.
In a joint operation with another agency in Agartala, BSF apprehended two Bangladeshi nationals—a man and a woman—in West Tripura. Both individuals are residents of Bagerhat district in Bangladesh.
A BSF spokesperson stated, “The BSF remains committed to maintaining security along the Indo-Bangladesh border. Our intensified operations are aimed at preventing cross-border crimes and ensuring the safety of the region.”
These operations underscore the BSF’s resolve to combat illegal activities along the border, ensuring heightened vigilance in sensitive areas.
