Agartala, April 22, 2026: In a significant stride towards women empowerment through skill development, a successful placement drive was conducted under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) at a local training centre.

A total of 70 girl candidates secured their first employment after completing a three-month training programme as Sewing Machine Operators. The candidates received offer letters from Sri Saravana Mills Pvt. Ltd., a reputed vertically integrated textile company based in Dindigul, known for its expertise in cotton yarn, knitted fabrics, and garment production.

The offer letters were formally distributed in the presence of Shubhabrata Bhattacharyya, Additional CEO of Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission, Dr. Sankharaj Roy, COO (Skills), TRLM, officials from the State Mission Management Unit (SMMU), and N.V. Giridhar, General Manager of the recruiting company.

Officials lauded the dedication and perseverance of the candidates, noting that the achievement reflects the effectiveness of structured skill training initiatives in enhancing employability among rural youth, particularly women.

The selected candidates are scheduled to join their workplace in Tamil Nadu in May 2026. They have been offered an annual CTC of ₹1.65 lakh, along with free food and lodging facilities provided by the company.

The initiative stands as a testament to the growing impact of government-backed skill development programmes in creating sustainable livelihood opportunities and fostering economic independence among women.
