Following the expiry of the ultimatum served to the Government of Manipur and the concerned authorities to establish the whereabouts of the six abducted Naga hostages, the All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur (ANSAM) convened an emergency assembly at Ukhrul district headquarters on June 3, hosted by the Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS), to deliberate on the prevailing situation.

The assembly expressed deep disappointment over the failure of the authorities to provide any concrete information regarding the safety, whereabouts, or condition of the six hostages even after the stipulated deadline had lapsed. It stated that the prolonged silence and lack of visible progress had further intensified the anxiety and suffering of the victims’ families and the Naga community at large.

Reaffirming the resolution adopted during the emergency presidential council meeting, the house reiterated its demand for the state government to establish the condition and whereabouts of the six Naga hostages, who were allegedly abducted on May 13, 2026, at Leilon Vaiphei in broad daylight by KNF(P) cadres along with some villagers of Leilon Vaiphei, and ensure their safe handover to the families and the Naga people.

As part of its intensified democratic agitation, the assembly resolved to launch a march towards Imphal via National Highway-202 on June 4, involving all units of the association. The march is intended to reach Makhan village to meet the families of the six hostages and engage with all concerned stakeholders.

The assembly also observed that the prevailing situation requires greater inclusiveness among the Naga community. In this regard, it stressed that the earlier decision of the presidential council to boycott the state government requires wider consultation for effective implementation.

Accordingly, the house endorsed the ANSAM Executive Council and its units to undertake intensive consultations with all stakeholders.

Further, the assembly resolved to constitute an action committee on the prevailing situation in the Naga homeland. The committee will be formed by the Executive Council through the nomination of former leaders of the association.

ANSAM also stated that the state government would be held responsible for any untoward incident occurring during the democratic march along the Imphal–Ukhrul Road (NH-202).

Reiterating its commitment to democratic and peaceful means of protest, the association stated that it would continue its agitation until justice is delivered and the six hostages are safely reunited with their families.

It added that the suffering endured by the families cannot be ignored and every possible effort must be made to bring the abducted individuals home safely.
