Itanagar, May 16: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen KT Parnaik (Retd) has emphasized that the state requires special focus at the national level, given its difficult terrain, low population density and unique developmental challenges.
During a meeting with NITI Aayog Full-Time Member Dr. Joram Aniya at Raj Bhavan, the Governor highlighted Arunachal’s unique challenges, including its difficult terrain, scattered population, strategic location, and rich cultural diversity. He said these factors demand region-specific strategies rather than uniform benchmarks.
Parnaik pointed to the state’s strong potential in hydropower, tourism, ecological conservation and cultural heritage, urging that Arunachal receive focused attention and higher priority in national planning. Congratulating Dr. Aniya on her appointment to the Centre’s apex policy think tank, he expressed confidence that she would help drive inclusive, people-first policymaking that benefits both the state and the nation.
The Governor added that Arunachal’s distinct geographic and demographic conditions create development hurdles that can only be addressed through customized solutions and enhanced support from the Union government.
