Reiterating his government’s core priority, Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Tuesday said that protecting the rights, identity, and future of Arunachal Pradesh’s indigenous people is “absolutely non-negotiable.”
He made the remarks following a meeting with the Central Executive Body of the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU), headed by newly elected President Meje Taku. Khandu said he was glad that the state government and AAPSU “stand firmly united” on protecting indigenous interests.
The meeting, held at the Chief Minister’s office, was the first official interaction between the state leadership and AAPSU’s newly constituted executive body, led by President Meje Taku.
Khandu described the engagement as “highly productive,” noting that the discussions were candid and constructive.
The dialogue centered on matters that directly affect the state’s future, including policy and socio-cultural safeguards for indigenous communities.
“These are issues that have a direct bearing on the future of our state,” Khandu noted, without detailing specific agenda points.
