Assam Rifles, DRI Seize ₹16 Cr Yaba Tablets in Tripura; One Arrested

Agartala, April 13, 2026: In a significant crackdown on narcotics trafficking, the Assam Rifles, in a joint operation with the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), apprehended one suspect and seized a huge consignment of Yaba tablets from Teliamura in Khowai district of Tripura on April 11, 2026.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the joint team intercepted a Mahindra pick-up vehicle bearing registration number TR01AY-1674 in the Teliamura area. Upon thorough search, the personnel recovered approximately 2 lakh Yaba tablets, estimated to be worth around ₹16 crore in the illegal market.

The arrested individual has been identified as Raju Deb (44), a resident of Jalilpur in West Tripura district.

Following the operation, the accused along with the seized contraband and the vehicle has been handed over to the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence for further investigation and necessary legal action.

Officials stated that the successful operation highlights the continued commitment and coordinated efforts of the Assam Rifles and DRI in curbing drug trafficking and ensuring security in the region.
