Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi has condemned the brutal murder of Madhurjya Barman in Nalbari and the grievous assault on 17‑year‑old Mridumudra Deka, calling for stronger vigilance and collective responsibility to safeguard women. Expressing deep sorrow over the incident, Gogoi said the tragedy has shaken not only the people of Nalbari but the entire state of Assam. He extended heartfelt condolences to Barman’s family and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul, while wishing a swift recovery for the injured girl who remains under treatment.
In his statement, Gogoi stressed that society must learn from this tragedy and act decisively to prevent such crimes in the future. He urged citizens to build a vigilant and proactive environment where women can live without fear. “It is the responsibility of all of us to make our society safer and more secure for our mothers, sisters, and daughters,” he said.
