A rare wildlife moment has unfolded in Assam with the first-ever sighting of a black panther at Dulung Reserve Forest in Lakhimpur district. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the development on Monday, noting that the elusive predator was captured on a camera trap.
Sarma described the sighting as a remarkable milestone for Assam’s biodiversity, emphasizing that it underscores the ecological importance of the state’s reserve forests. He further Emphasized that such occurrences reflect the success of sustained conservation initiatives aimed at protecting wildlife habitats across Assam.
The appearance of the black panther, a creature often associated with mystery and rarity, adds a new dimension to Assam’s rich natural heritage.
