Guwahati, June 6: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds across Guwahati and several parts of Assam over the next two to three days. The weather pattern indicates that intermittent spells of rain and thunderstorms are likely to affect isolated areas in the city and other districts, raising concerns about waterlogging, traffic disruptions, and possible landslides in vulnerable zones.

Authorities have stepped up monitoring as the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) placed emergency response systems on alert. Officials have urged residents to remain cautious, particularly those living in low-lying and hillside areas where flooding and landslides could pose risks.

Daily commuters and long-distance travellers have been advised to plan their journeys carefully and avoid unnecessary movement during periods of intense rainfall.

ASDMA has assured that regular updates will be shared through its official website and social media platforms to keep the public informed. Citizens have been encouraged to follow official advisories and take necessary precautions to ensure safety during this prolonged spell of adverse weather.
