Agartala, May 30, 2026: In a major relief for flood-hit Tripura, the Central Government has released ₹75.60 crore as the first instalment of financial assistance for reconstruction and recovery efforts following the devastating floods that ravaged the state in August 2024.
The fund has been released under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) from the total sanctioned amount of ₹252 crore approved by the Government of India for the state’s rehabilitation programme.
Sharing the development through a post on X, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said the unprecedented floods had caused extensive damage to infrastructure, public assets, and the livelihoods of thousands of people across the state.
He informed that the state government had conducted a detailed Post Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA) to evaluate the losses caused by the natural calamity. Based on the findings, a comprehensive memorandum seeking financial assistance for recovery and reconstruction was submitted to the Centre.
Following the assessment, the Government of India approved a special package of ₹252 crore for Tripura’s post-flood rebuilding initiatives. The first tranche of ₹75.60 crore was released on May 26, 2026, to facilitate the ongoing restoration work.
Expressing his gratitude, Dr. Saha thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for extending support to the state. He said the Centre’s assistance would significantly strengthen the government’s efforts to restore damaged infrastructure and help affected communities return to normalcy.
The remaining funds are expected to be released in phases as reconstruction activities progress across the flood-affected regions of Tripura.
