Agartala, June 10, 2026: Tripura Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Wednesday inspected the ongoing development works at Chabimura, one of the state’s most picturesque tourist destinations, and directed officials to ensure timely completion of the project while maintaining quality standards.

Describing Chabimura as a place of extraordinary natural beauty, the minister said it is popularly known as the “Amazon of Tripura” or the “Amazon of Northeast India.” He said the state government has undertaken a comprehensive initiative to transform the destination into a world-class tourist attraction capable of drawing visitors from across the country and abroad.

“Chabimura, with its breathtaking natural beauty and unique heritage, is one of Tripura’s most valuable tourism assets. The Tourism Department has launched an extensive revamp project to make the destination more attractive and tourist-friendly. The foundation stone for the project has already been laid, and during today’s inspection I directed officials to complete the work within the stipulated timeframe without compromising on quality,” Chowdhury said.

The minister also held a review meeting with ADC Executive Officer C.K. Jamatia, MLA Ranjit Das, Tourism Secretary Uttam Kumar Chakma, Tourism Director Prashant Badal Negi, officials of the Tourism Department, district administration representatives, and local leaders.

“We discussed various measures to further improve tourist facilities, strengthen infrastructure, and enhance the services available at Chabimura so that visitors can enjoy a better and more comfortable experience,” he added.

The government expects the upgraded facilities to significantly boost tourism in the region and promote Chabimura as a premier eco-tourism destination in Northeast India.
