Agartala, April 09, 2026: Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Thursday asserted that the face of tribal areas under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council would completely change if the Bharatiya Janata Party comes to power in the council.
Campaigning in the Halhali-Asharambari constituency ahead of the forthcoming ADC elections, the Chief Minister appealed to voters to cast their ballots fearlessly and unitedly on April 12 to ensure BJP’s victory.
Addressing an election rally at Behlabari, he said the ADC needs leadership that understands the struggles and needs of poor people, adding that only such governance can accelerate development in tribal regions.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Saha said Modi remains deeply committed to the welfare of tribal communities and has consistently worked with sincerity for the upliftment of the poor.
Launching a sharp attack on TIPRA Motha Party, the Chief Minister claimed that after the declaration of election results on April 17, the party would lose its political relevance, alleging that its support base had already eroded significantly.
He further remarked that although BJP is the largest political party, its leaders continue to maintain simplicity in public life. “Despite holding the post of Chief Minister, I mostly travel by train or car,” he said.
In contrast, he alleged that leaders of the Motha party, who claim to represent poor people, have been extensively using helicopters for election campaigning over the last three to four days. He questioned the source of funding for such expenditure and alleged that the money was derived from resources looted from the poor.
Issuing a stern warning, Saha said the authorities are aware of the sources of funding being used and indicated that appropriate action could follow if irregularities are established.
