The supply and distribution of LPG cylinders in Sikkim remains steady, with the current backlog limited to 1.46 days, ensuring timely delivery to consumers across the state.
According to official sources, the total number of pending LPG bookings stands at 5,284, while the average daily delivery is 3,618 cylinders. Based on this delivery rate, the backlog translates to approximately 1.46 days, indicating an ongoing supply balance.
The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, in coordination with the State Government and LPG distributors, is monitoring supply lines to avoid disruptions. Officials stated that adequate LPG stocks are being maintained at bottling plants and storage facilities to meet demand.
To address the needs of students, migrant labourers, and other temporary residents who may not have regular LPG connections, 5 kg Free Trade LPG (FTL) cylinders are being made available at selected distributors and agencies in Gangtok district.
State authorities are also issuing daily LPG distribution schedules for different areas through digital platforms to keep consumers informed and facilitate planning.
The government has advised the public not to engage in panic buying of petrol, diesel, or LPG, stating that measures are in place to ensure uninterrupted supply. Consumers have been urged to rely on official sources for information, use digital platforms for LPG bookings, and avoid unnecessary visits to distributors.
Residents have also been encouraged to consider alternative cooking options such as electric or induction cooktops where possible, and to adopt energy conservation practices in daily use.
