Agartala, June 08, 2026: In a major step towards strengthening border infrastructure and enhancing cross-border trade, the Government of India will launch the Land Port Management System (LPMS) on June 9 in New Delhi. The initiative, to be inaugurated by Union Home Minister and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, is expected to modernize the management of India’s land ports through advanced digital technology.
For Tripura, the occasion holds special significance as newly developed stakeholder accommodation facilities at the Srimantapur Land Port will also be inaugurated. The facility is aimed at providing improved support infrastructure for border security personnel, officials, traders, transport operators, and other stakeholders involved in border operations.
Officials said the LPMS is a state-of-the-art digital platform that will integrate operations across land ports into a single system, enabling secure and real-time exchange of logistics and regulatory information. The platform will introduce end-to-end digital processing of cargo and passenger movement, including slot booking, payments, tracking, and single-window clearances.
The system is integrated with major national platforms such as ICEGATE, ULIP, and the motor vehicle ecosystem, ensuring greater transparency, efficiency, and seamless coordination among government agencies and private operators.
Tripura plays a vital role in India-Bangladesh connectivity through key land ports at Agartala Land Port, Srimantapur Land Port and Sabroom Land Port. The launch of LPMS is expected to strengthen trade facilitation, improve border management, and contribute to the vision of a technology-driven and secure border ecosystem under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as India moves towards the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
