Renowned Manipuri filmmaker Haobam Paban Kumar has been invited by the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, to speak at the upcoming International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2025, set to begin on November 20 in Goa.
Haobam Paban Kumar, known for his powerful storytelling and contributions to Manipuri and Northeast Indian cinema, will be part of a panel discussion titled “New North East Cinema and Film Schools” on November 27, 2025, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Joining him on the panel will be acclaimed filmmakers Reema Borah and Maharishi Tuhin Kashyap, with Garo filmmaker Dominic Sangma serving as the moderator.
The session will explore the emerging cinematic voices of the Northeast, the evolution of regional storytelling, and the crucial role that film education and institutions play in shaping the next generation of filmmakers from the region.
