A Bailey bridge over the Tuivai river collapsed in Manipur’s Churachandpur district on Thursday evening, officials said, disrupting a key supply route in the region.
The bridge, located between Sinzawl and Khuanggin villages along National Highway-102B, gave way while two trucks loaded with cement were crossing it. However, no casualties were reported in the incident.

Officials said the route serves as a vital lifeline for Churachandpur, facilitating the transportation of essential commodities from Silchar in Assam and other areas via Mizoram.
Restoration work has been taken up on a war footing to restore connectivity at the earliest, they added.
