Manipur’s young badminton sensation Kimkim Khongsai has etched her name in the national sporting arena by clinching the Under-15 singles crown at the Yonex-Sunrise All India Sub Junior National Ranking Badminton Tournament 2026, held at the Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy in Hyderabad. Alongside her singles triumph, she partnered with Liansangpuia of Mizoram to secure the gold medal in the mixed doubles category, showcasing her versatility and dominance on court.

Originally hailing from Chonjang village in Kangpokpi district, Khongsai’s journey to the podium has been marked by resilience. Amid the prolonged ethnic conflict in Manipur, she obtained a No Objection Certificate from the Badminton Association of Manipur and began representing Nagaland, ensuring her sporting aspirations remained alive. Her success in Hyderabad is a testament to her determination and ability to rise above adversity.

Currently ranked 15th in the Sub Junior All India National ranking for under-15, Khongsai’s performance has brought immense pride to Manipur, Nagaland, and the entire Northeast.
