Shillong, May 18: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Monday laid the foundation stone for the construction of a Mini Stadium at Damas in North Garo Hills district.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that sports infrastructure plays an important role in nurturing talent and creating opportunities for young people. He added that the state currently has 240 sports projects either completed or under construction across Meghalaya.

He also stated that the government aims to increase the number of sports projects to 510 by 2028. According to him, the objective is to ensure balanced development so that no district, block, or locality is left without access to sports infrastructure, enabling youth to develop their skills and participate in competitive sports.
