Agartala, June 08, 2026: TIPRA Motha MLA Ranjit Debbarma has strongly criticized Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha for his silence on key issues concerning the state, particularly in contrast to Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma’s proactive stance on the Inner Line Permit (ILP).

Referring to the 73rd Plenary Session of the North Eastern Council, Debbarma pointed out that Conrad K. Sangma had submitted a memorandum to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, urging the abolition of the ILP system. He said this demonstrated Meghalaya’s assertive approach in addressing issues affecting its people.

In contrast, Debbarma alleged that Chief Minister Manik Saha has not made any statement regarding the influx of illegal migrants from Bangladesh into Tripura. He expressed concern that crucial issues such as the implementation of ILP in Tripura, language development, and the welfare of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) have not been raised or discussed by the state government.

The TIPRA Motha leader further criticized the Chief Minister for not committing to legislative measures that could empower the ADC. “There has been no mention of the proposed 125 amendment bills aimed at strengthening the TTAADC. Even in his public communications, including social media posts, the Chief Minister has remained silent on these pressing matters,” Debbarma stated.

He emphasized that while leaders from other northeastern states are actively advocating for their regional interests at the national level, Tripura’s leadership appears to be lagging behind in addressing core concerns of indigenous communities.

Debbarma urged the state government to take a more proactive role in safeguarding the interests of the ADC areas and addressing issues related to illegal migration, asserting that these matters are critical for the socio-political stability of Tripura.
