Shillong, June 4: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Thursday welcomed Union Home Minister Amit Shah to Shillong for the 73rd Plenary Session of the North Eastern Council (NEC).
In a message, Sangma said, “Glad to welcome Hon’ble Union Home Minister and Chairman of the North Eastern Council, Shri Amit Shah ji to Shillong for the 73rd NEC Plenary Session.”
The plenary session, chaired by Amit Shah, is expected to review the progress made by the Chief Ministers’ High-Level Task Forces constituted for key sectors of regional development across the Northeast.
According to the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), discussions will focus on tourism, agriculture and horticulture, investment promotion, self-reliance in milk, eggs, fish and meat production, sports promotion, economic corridor development, infrastructure and connectivity, and handloom and handicrafts.
The meeting will also deliberate on the North East Vision Plan 2047, which aims to provide a long-term roadmap for the region’s economic growth, connectivity, innovation, sustainability and cultural development.
Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region Jyotiraditya Scindia, Minister of State for DoNER Sukanta Majumdar, Governors and Chief Ministers of all eight Northeastern states, NEC members and senior government officials are attending the session in Shillong.
