The Meghalaya government has made it mandatory for all homestays, resorts, and landlords to register visitors following the murder of tourist Raja Raghuvanshi.

Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh stated that all accommodation units must now compulsorily register guests through the state’s tourism app, which is currently used by around 60% of such establishments.

The state government has also banned the renting of private vehicles to tourists for self-driving. Additionally, it plans to review the Meghalaya Resident Safety and Security Act to strengthen measures for crime prevention and public safety.
