Shillong, May 1: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Friday announced that the state government has implemented the Structured Pay Framework for teachers under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), describing it as a step toward stability and addressing long-standing concerns of educators.
Speaking in Shillong after being honoured by the SSA Teachers’ Association and the 4th Teachers’ Association, Sangma said the decision is aimed at improving financial security and working conditions for teachers across Meghalaya. He recalled that the issue was first raised during a meeting in 2016 and noted that the implementation was the result of years of dialogue between the government and teachers’ bodies.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the development reflects coordinated efforts by educators, associations, and officials over time. He added that the framework is intended to support teachers and strengthen the education system, urging educators to continue prioritising students as the state moves forward with the new policy.
