Shillong, May 13: In a proud milestone for Meghalaya, Nandini Ishvi O. Sangma has been selected to represent India at the 13th Commonwealth Youth Parliament (CYP13), scheduled to take place in Sydney, Australia, from July 26 to 31, 2026.
A Political Science student at Don Bosco College, Tura, Nandini will join five other delegates from across India at the prestigious international youth leadership programme. The event brings together young participants from Commonwealth nations to simulate parliamentary proceedings, sharpen leadership skills, and gain exposure to governance and democratic practices.
Her selection follows her remarkable performance at the first-ever Youth Parliament in Garo Hills, where she was adjudged Best Speaker. The programme, sponsored by the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly in collaboration with Tura Christian College, was held at the District Auditorium in Tura on March 2 and 3 this year.
The Commonwealth Youth Parliament is designed to train aspiring public leaders by offering firsthand experience of parliamentary debates, legislative functioning, and democratic processes. Nandini’s achievement not only highlights her personal dedication but also reflects the growing participation of youth from Meghalaya in national and international platforms.
