Aizawl, April 13: The Government of Mizoram has declared Dry Days across the entire area of Aizawl Municipal Corporation in connection with the upcoming General Election to the Aizawl Municipal Corporation, 2026.

In an order issued under Section 4A of the Mizoram Liquor (Prohibition) Amendment Act, 2025, the Commissioner of Excise & Narcotics announced that the sale and consumption of liquor and wine will be prohibited from 4:00 PM on April 20, 2026, until 4:00 PM on April 21, 2026 – the 24-hour period immediately preceding the conclusion of polling.

The directive further extends to April 23, 2026, in case of a re-poll, and April 27, 2026, the day scheduled for counting of votes.

Authorities emphasized that the measure is aimed at ensuring free and fair elections, maintaining law and order, and preventing any untoward incidents during the polling and counting process.
