Aizawl, June 2: Mizoram Governor Vijay Kumar Singh on Monday reviewed the state’s preparations for the upcoming 73rd plenary session of the North Eastern Council (NEC), which is scheduled to take place in Shillong on June 4. The meeting at Lok Bhavan underscored the importance of effectively presenting Mizoram’s development priorities during the session, which will be chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Governor Singh reiterated the Centre’s commitment to advancing the Northeastern region and urged all departments to intensify efforts to ensure that the state’s agenda is clearly projected at the plenary. Officials noted that the state planning and programme implementation department secretary, David Lalthantluanga, delivered a detailed presentation outlining the follow-up actions taken on decisions concerning Mizoram from the last NEC plenary held in Agartala in December 2024.
The review meeting highlighted the state’s determination to align its strategies with regional development goals while preparing to showcase its progress and priorities at the Shillong session.
