Agartala, April 09, 2026: The Tipra Motha Party (TMP) has stepped up its campaign ahead of the April 12 elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), organising a series of mass gatherings across key constituencies, with party founder Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma launching a strong attack on Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and reiterating that no alliance would be considered without assured benefits for the Tiprasa people.
Addressing a large rally at Manik Debbarma Hati in Teliamura in support of 11-Maharanipur–Teliamura candidate Utpal Debbarma, Pradyot described the electoral contest as a fight between “money power and jati power.” The programme was also attended by National People’s Party (NPP) leader James Sangma.

He alleged that while the Chief Minister wields “money, administrative and police power,” TMP represents the “poor Tiprasa people,” asserting that unity among the indigenous population would be decisive in the polls.
Targeting the state government, Pradyot accused it of attempting to “capture” the TTAADC instead of addressing key indigenous concerns. He claimed that issues such as land rights, identity and script have remained neglected, including in the BJP’s manifesto. He also criticised the government for not filing chargesheets in pending cases against CPI(M) leaders while allegedly targeting its regional ally.

Raising broader concerns, he questioned the Chief Minister’s silence on the condition of minorities in Bangladesh under Muhammad Yunus and contrasted it with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s response to cross-border developments.
Pradyot further alleged delays in holding Village Committee elections, claiming that democratic processes have been stalled. He warned that those in power would not remain if the Tiprasa people unite.
Reiterating his position on alliances, the TMP leader said the party would not align with any political formation unless it ensures tangible gains for the indigenous population. He also alleged that efforts were made to pressure him into an electoral understanding with the BJP, which he declined.
During the programmes, a total of 122 voters from 32 families joined TMP from various political parties.
Campaigning for candidates including Rajeshwar Debbarma (Kulai–Champahour), Prasmit Debbarma (Asharambari) and James Debbarma (Ramchandra Ghat), Pradyot accused rival parties of distributing money and goods, while asserting that TMP remains focused on long-term empowerment and securing the future of the next generation.
