Kohima, May 27: The Nagaland government has announced that all birth and death registrations in the state will be carried out entirely through an online system with effect from June 1, 2026.

According to the Department of Economics and Statistics, the move is part of the transition towards 100 percent digital registration of births and deaths across the state.

The department clarified that all birth and death certificates issued manually before June 1, 2026, will continue to remain valid for all official purposes. Citizens will not be required to obtain fresh certificates following the digitisation process.

It further informed that the digitisation of manually issued certificates will continue throughout the state. Delayed registrations through the online system will be processed as per the procedures already notified earlier.

Citizens have been advised to ensure that all future birth and death registrations are completed only through the online registration system.

Meanwhile, District Registrars, Registrars and Registration Units have been directed to facilitate a smooth transition and extend necessary assistance to the public during the transition period.

For any clarification or support, citizens may contact their respective District Registrars or Registration Units.
