Kohima, April 13: Nagaland BJP Mahila Morcha president Tsachola Rothrong on Monday described the amendment to the Women’s Reservation Act as a transformative step for Indian democracy, asserting that it will pave the way for inclusive and participatory governance.
Speaking to media persons, Rothrong highlighted that the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam mandates 33 per cent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state Legislative Assemblies, including provisions within seats reserved for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. She said the law ensures that women will finally occupy their rightful positions within the nation’s highest decision-making bodies.
Rothrong emphasized that the Act will provide Naga women with constitutionally guaranteed representation in legislative governance, opening a new chapter of leadership, participation, and policy influence in the state.
Calling for broad-based support, she urged stakeholders across political spheres to embrace the reform in its true spirit, stressing that women’s empowerment is not a partisan issue but a national priority. “This is not just the rise of Nari Shakti, this is the rise of a new India where every daughter leads, every woman decides, and the nation moves forward with unstoppable strength,” she said.
