Gangtok, April 24: A high-level preparedness meeting was convened at the Conference Hall of Tashiling Secretariat on Friday under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary R. Telang to review arrangements for the forthcoming visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Sikkim.
The meeting carried out a thorough evaluation of security measures, with discussions stressing the need for seamless inter-agency coordination, careful planning, and strict compliance with established protocols. Leading the session, the Chief Secretary emphasized the importance of strong inter-departmental cooperation to ensure that all arrangements are implemented in a smooth, secure, and efficient manner.
Alongside security, the meeting featured structured departmental presentations covering medical readiness, resource allocation, contingency strategies, and overall operational preparedness. Officials highlighted the necessity of timely execution and effective response mechanisms to address any potential challenges during the Prime Minister’s visit.
The session was attended by Director General of Police Akshay Sachdeva, Additional Chief Secretary of the Tourism and Civil Aviation Department C.S. Rao, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Urban Development Department Jitendra Singh Raje, Principal Secretary of the Education Department Sandeep Tambe, as well as Heads of Departments, senior police officers, and officials from the District Administrative Centre, Gangtok, and various line departments.
