Sikkim Police Receives Nation’s Highest Police Honour, ‘President’s Police Colour’

Gangtok, May 28: President Droupadi Murmu conferred the prestigious President’s Police Colour to the Sikkim Police today. The Alankaran Parade was held at the Paljor Stadium in Gangtok. Sikkim has become the 15th state of the country and 3rd from North East to receive this award.

Addressing the event, President Droupadi Murmu urged the police force to be more citizen centric. She also emphasised that police should be more sensitive while dealing with the people, particularly women, the poor and children. She said that police must be ready to deal with cybercrime, online fraud, deep fake, etc. She hoped that the Sikkim Police would deal with these challenges by using all modern means. She appreciated the role of the Sikkim Police in maintaining law and order situation as well as mitigating disasters.

The President’s Police Colour is the highest ceremonial honour awarded to a police force in the country in recognition of exceptional service, unwavering discipline, and dedication to the nation.
