Agartala, June 12, 2026: The Government of Tripura has approved the acquisition of 2.894 acres of land under Agartala and Pratapgarh moujas for the extension and strengthening of the Howrah River embankment along the river’s right bank, stretching from Adarsha Pally to the Pratapgarh RCC Bridge.

According to an official public notice, an independent multidisciplinary Expert Group constituted under the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (RFCTLARR) Act, 2013, reviewed the Social Impact Assessment (SIA) report and found the project necessary for improving flood protection infrastructure.

The panel observed that the embankment project would help reduce flood-related disruptions, enhance public safety, and support planned urban development in surrounding areas. It also noted that the benefits would extend to local residents as well as the wider population of the state.

The government assured that affected landowners would receive compensation and rehabilitation benefits in accordance with the provisions of the RFCTLARR Act, 2013. Copies of the government decision, SIA report and evaluation report have been made available at designated government offices and public notice boards for public information.
