Agartala, March 12, 2026: An innovative activity titled “Bal Parliament” was successfully organized today at the Amarpur Block Mission Management Unit (BMMU) under Gomati district as part of the PRI–CBO Project initiative under the Ministry of Rural Development and Aajeevika – National Rural Livelihood Mission.

Around 60 students enthusiastically participated in the programme, taking part in a mock parliamentary session designed to help them understand the functioning of a democratic system. Through this interactive exercise, students learned about leadership, responsibility, and the importance of informed decision-making in a democratic framework.

During the Bal Parliament session, the participants discussed various social and developmental issues affecting society. They shared their views, engaged in debates, and practiced collective decision-making processes similar to those followed in a real parliamentary system.

Officials associated with the initiative said that the activity aimed to create awareness among children about democratic values and governance. “Such programmes help young students understand how democratic institutions function and encourage them to develop leadership qualities from an early age,” an official associated with the project said.

The event turned out to be highly interactive and educational, inspiring students to express their opinions and participate actively in discussions. Organizers believe that initiatives like the Bal Parliament can play a significant role in nurturing responsible and aware citizens who will contribute positively to society in the future.

The programme was conducted as part of ongoing efforts under the PRI–CBO Project to strengthen community awareness and participation at the grassroots level.
